This Week in Books
This Week in Books is a weekly round-up hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?
THEN: I finished Chase Darkness with Me by Billy Jensen. I am not a big true crime reader, but I liked how Jensen focused mostly on the victims. It felt respectful not sensationalist, and the author came across as thoughtful and sincere. You can find my full review here.
NOW: I am about halfway through John Grisham's The Guardians. I hadn't read anything by this author in some time, years probably, and though it is well written and plotted, I am also finding it a bit predictable and packed with clichées, which makes it feel a little tedious. We'll see how the second half goes...
NEXT: Is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens worth all the hype? I feel put off by how much it is lauded, because I feel I am sure to be disappointed, but I can't deny being curious, too. Maybe this will be a contender for my next read. I am in the mood for something immersive that isn't crime fiction. Recommendations welcome and appreciated!
