This Week in Books
This Week in Books is a weekly round-up hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?
THEN: I finished The Marriage Betrayal by Shalini Boland a few days ago. I've read almost all of the author's books and usually like how real her characters seem and how the stories develop. This one will be published early next month, and you can find a more detailed review here. It wasn't as gripping as I hoped it would be, and I guessed the ending and a number of twists and turns along the way. It also bothered me that the word "mousy" was used rather often to describe women. It's not a bad book by any means, but not my favorite by Boland either.
NOW: I finally convinced myself to give A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara a try, and so far, I quite like it! It was so hyped up and at 720 pages, I wasn't sure it was worth it, but I am pleasantly surprised a third of the way in. Have you read it?
NEXT: I think I will read The Whisper Man by Alex North next. I've heard good things about it, and I'm in the mood for a really clever, original thriller. Fingers crossed it lives up to expectations!
