This Week in Books
This Week in Books is a weekly meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?
THEN: I was traveling this past week, and got a lot of reading time in. So I finished Radical by Maajid Nawas as well as The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne. Radical was an interesting read, and while I had some issues with the author's occasionally rather self-important tone, I think it was a worthwhile read. As for The Heart's Invisible Furies? Let me tell you, the hype is well deserved. This is a wonderful book, and though it is long, I frankly wish it had been even longer. This must be one of the best books I'll read this year. Absolutely recommended! You can find my reviews of Radical and The Heart's Invisible Furies here and here.
NOW: I just started reading The Escape Room by Megan Goldin. I heard it was compulsively readable and while I am only at the start, the past is fast and the writing engaging.
NEXT: I think I will jump to another genre entirely and read Holly Black's The Wicked King next. My interest in fantasy has waned considerably these past few years, but I really enjoyed the first book in this series, The Cruel Prince and am hopeful the sequel lives up to high expectations!
