Blog Tour: The Wife Before Me by Laura Elliot

Today I am excited to join the blog tour for Laura Elliot's new book, The Wife Before Me. I've read previous books by the author and was once again, not disappointed.

One evening as the sun is setting, Amelia Madison’s car slides into the sea off Mason’s Pier. Her body is never found. Two years later, Elena Langdon meets Nicholas Madison. She is grieving the loss of her mother, he is grieving for his wife. Together they can help each other. Now Elena is living with Nicholas. But Elena doesn’t really know him. She doesn’t know what he is capable of. And she doesn’t know what really happened to Amelia. Until the day she discovers the torn page of a letter and the words she reads chill her to the bone. Elena must find the person who wrote these letters if she is to save herself. A totally breathtaking page-turner about the darker side of love and what really goes on behind closed doors. This book will have you gripped from the very first page until the dramatic final twist.

My Review:

Almost from the start, there is a sense of tension present in this book and it carries on until the conclusion. This made for a riveting, if vaguely uncomfortable read. The story is told in two parts between past and present, which offered a significant glimpse into Nicholas's characters as well as his first marriage.

At times, I was slightly confused about who was narrating, but all in all, I thought this was done quite well and added a layer of mystery to the story. I also thought the characters were well developed and intriguing. The Wife Before Me is definitely quite dark and gets darker as the story progresses. I don't want to give away any details and risk spoiling the plot, but I was eager to know how it would end. Quite the page turner!
