This Week in Books
This Week in Books is a fun meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. In this post I look back on a book I've finished, highlight one I am currently reading, and one I will read in the near future. What are you reading these days?
THEN: I finished reading Mark of the Thief by Jennifer Nielsen, and enjoyed it! I have read a handful of books by the author, and they are reliably good. They are not spectacular exactly, but always solid entertainment with characters I can happily root for.
NOW: I just started reading Kristin Hannah's latest novel The Great Alone. I really enjoyed her book The Nightingale, though a previous one I read was a little too predictable for me. So far, I am enjoying The Great Alone. It is set in the 1970s in Alaska, a place quite foreign to me, and a POW from Vietnam. Hannah has an ability to make her characters seem very human, and she is doing it again and well in this book.
NEXT: I plan to read Force of Nature by Jane Harper next. It is the sequel to last year's sensation The Dry, a book I thoroughly enjoyed, and so I am excited to see how Aaron Falk's story continues. Often sophomore books, following extremely popular debuts, are a disappointment, but I hope this will live up to the hype once again surrounding it. Have you read it? What did you think?
