Before the Fall

November 16, 2016

“Everyone is from someplace. We all have stories, our lives unfolding along crooked lines, colliding in unexpected ways.”
― Noah Hawley, Before the Fall

I had heard a lot about this book, so I was very excited to get approved on Netgalley for a copy! Fortunately, the hype was worthwhile:-) The story jumps very fluently back and forth in time and from one POV to another. I tend to like this, as it gives a more rounded picture, but some authors are better at it than others and Hawley definitely falls into the former category. I liked Scott and thought the way he digested what happened to him felt real, as well as the way his relationship with JJ developed. I thought the book would be more action based than it was, but found that I really liked the slow unwrapping of layers, as the story progressed. The mystery itself definitely kept me guessing, and while I felt the ending was a little less spectacular than I thought, it fit the mood of the book. Overall Before the Fall was a very satisfying, engaging read, and I very much look forward to Hawley's next writing endeavor!
Thanks Netgalley for giving me a chance to read Before the Fall!
